After the pruning is finished its time to dormant disease spray fruit trees and roses. Our staff will be happy to advise you on what to use and how and when to apply it.

Remember, once trees and roses have leafed out, it is too late to spray.

Erosion Control

Fall is the best time of year to seed slopes and hillsides to prevent winter rains from washing them away. We have a good selection of seed, jute netting, staples and other erosion control supplies available in our seed room. We have a whole series of free care sheets on erosion control subjects available in our seed room.

Foggy Weather Disease Problems: The moist coastal air can cause mildew, blackspot and rust diseases, especially on roses. We have nontoxic, as well as traditional, sprays to remedy plant diseases. We especially recommend Greenlight® Rose Defense made from natural neem oil. Other fungicides and spray oils are also available. Check with our sales staff. New products are now available from Bayer, Bonide and Greenlight, neem oil concentrates and systemic "All in one" granules by Bayer that feed, control insects and diseases.

Deer and Wildlife Repellents

Sluggo

Finally!!! A non-toxic Slug an Snail bait. Sluggo can be used around pets and wild life without adverse effects. It also remains effective after rainfall or irrigation. Sluggo can be used in vegetable gardens at all times. The active ingredient is iron phosphate, which is a plant nutrient that also controls Snails and Slugs. Available in 1lb, 2½lb, 5lb and 10lb sizes.

Trellises: We have one of the largest selections in the area, all sizes, shapes and heights for training vines and roses. Ladder trellises and tapered trellises in many sizes.
